Preamble: The Concept of Team

A team shall be defined as a group of players or athletes forming one side of a competitive game or sport – the group having a common goal. Other words sometimes interchanged with the word team are club, squad, fellowship, fraternity and brotherhood.

A team can have two or more players.

Types of Teams

Although teams are often gender specific, there now exist many examples of mixed or coed teams that compete at high levels.

As well new team sports are emerging on an ongoing basis such as extreme sports. There is a possibility that determining the validity of a new sport could come into question. In this regard the profile of governance on a provincial, national or international level could be the defining feature for acceptance.

Classification of Potential Team Inductees

There shall be two (2) forms of recognition for championship teams under the auspices of the Collingwood Sports Hall of Fame.

  1. Wall of Fame
  2. Hall of Fame
