In January 2014, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the following criteria for Athlete, Builder and Team Induction into the Collingwood Sports Hall of Fame.

Preamble: The Concept of Team
A team shall be defined as a group of players or athletes forming one side of a competitive game or sport – the group having a common goal. Other words sometimes interchanged with the word team are club, squad, fellowship, fraternity and brotherhood.
A team can have two or more players.
Types of Teams
Although teams are often gender specific, there now exist many examples of mixed or coed teams that compete at high levels.
As well new team sports are emerging on an ongoing basis such as extreme sports. There is a possibility that determining the validity of a new sport could come into question. In this regard the profile of governance on a provincial, national or international level could be the defining feature for acceptance.
Classification of Potential Team Inductees
There shall be two (2) forms of recognition for championship teams under the auspices of the Collingwood Sports Hall of Fame.

- Hall of Fame
Eligibility for Election
Wall of Fame
Any Collingwood area team that wins a Provincial, National or International championship is eligible and can be nominated for admission to the Wall of Fame, immediately following the team accomplishment. An appropriate nomination form shall be submitted that will include a synopsis of the championship season along with a colour photo identifying all team members, players, coaches and other team officials. Along with the standard nomination form a maximum of 5 pages of supporting documentation may accompany a team nomination.
Hall of Fame
Should the accomplishments of a team gaining entry onto the Wall of Fame be deemed extraordinary or exceptional, they shall be eligible for nomination into the Sports Hall of Fame, after a five year waiting period from the time of the championship season. The submission requirements shall be identical to the Wall of Fame guidelines.
Selection Committee
As per builders and athletes the same Selection Committee shall meet, as required, to submit recommended teams to the Board of Governors for either the Sports Wall of Fame or Sports Hall of Fame. Quorum guidelines will remain in place as per builders and athletes.
Basis of Team Selection- Eligibility of Election
i) The minimal level of accomplishment is provincial championship
ii) The nominated team must be a representative of the Collingwood area and brought honor and distinction through their team to Collingwood and the sport in general.
The induction of a team applies only to the team collectively and not to its members individually.
Procedure for Nomination
Nominations shall be made on official team nomination forms and submitted to the Board of Governors. It is essential that a complete history of the team’s accomplishment be chronicled, in particular highlighting the exceptionality of the success.
A nominated team not gaining acceptance onto the Wall of Fame or into the Hall of Fame can be re nominated in succeeding years by re submitting on current nomination forms.
Method of Election
i) Wall of Fame Teams
A meeting of the Selection Committee to review and select nominated teams shall occur each March or April following the calendar year conclusion.
ii) Hall of Fame Teams
A meeting of the Selection Committee to review and select nominated teams shall take place, as required, in the induction year, and will precede by not less than sixty days the annual induction ceremonies.
The same endorsement policy (simple majority) as per athletes and builders shall be utilized for teams. Nominated teams shall be considered by the selection committee immediately following the review and possible election of athletes and builders in any given induction year.
Publication of Team Elections
The chairperson of the Board of Governors or designate, shall release the results for team Wall of Fame recognition or Hall of Fame induction for general publication.
Procedure of Team Enrollment
i) Wall of Fame
It shall be condition precedent for the official enrollment that each newly elected team to the Wall of Fame shall be part of a publicity release coinciding with the placement of team pictures on the recognition wall.
ii) Hall of Fame
It shall be condition precedent for the official enrolment that each newly elected team shall be formally inducted at the official induction ceremony, as determined by the Board of Governors
At the time of induction, the Honoured Team shall receive a team picture, with all members identified that shall be displayed in prominence in the Collingwood Sports Hall
Eligibility of Election
i) Athlete must have attained local, provincial, national or international recognition in their sport.
ii) Athlete must have been a permanent resident of Collingwood and District at the time of his/her accomplishments
or
Been a permanent resident and graduate of a Collingwood and District Minor Sports Programs
or
Consideration shall be given to a part-time resident who, while participating as a member of a Collingwood Sports Club/Team has attained an outstanding achievement as noted in subsection i.
iii) Candidates for election shall be chosen on the basis of playing ability, sportsmanship, character, their contribution to their particular sport, the honour brought to Collingwood and to sport generally.
Eligibility of Election
i) Builders participation focused on sports on the local, provincial, national or international level
ii) Builder must have been a permanent resident of Collingwood and District at the time of his/her their work
or
Consideration shall be given to a part-time resident who supported a team/member of a Collingwood Sports Club/Team for a number of years or during their achievements as noted in subsection i.
iii) Builders shall be chosen on the basis of their commitment, time investment, financial support, etc . . that brought honour to Collingwood and to sport generally.
